Keyword research is a vital part of Internet Marketing. You need to know what people are looking for, because there is no sense in trying to sell something nobody needs or wants!

There are many ways you can do that. Google has a very good free keyword research tool that allows you to find many excellent keywords and keyword phrases. One thing you should know, is that if you want to promote some products, you should aim for long tailed keyword phrases, which means that you should try to find a keyword phrase rather than a single keyword, because then you can target a smaller group of people who are looking for a particular product or service.

Let me give you an example. If you go to Google, or any of the other search engines and type in a word like travel, you will come up with millions of search results, but if you are more specific and search for a keyphrase such as travel to Budapest, you will get far fewer results, thus being able to narrow down your search. And even better, if you type in your keyword phrase within quotes, like “travel to Budapest”, you will only get results that show you websites containing that exact phrase.

So you see, if you are promoting anything related to travels, you should only use long tailed keyword phrases, for best results. You need to target keyphrases with a decent amount of searches, but a little competition from other people or companies. There are many ways to do that, both free and paid ones. You can use Google keyword tool, and Wordtracker which also has a free version, there are lots of free keyword tools available, the only thing you need to do is to go to Google and search for a free keyword research tool.

The only keyword tool I use now is theĀ  Micro Niche Finder. I have made a lens on Squidoo about my experience with using the Micro Niche Finder, so pleaseĀ  go to my lens Micro Niche Finder for more information. If you want to see a video of the Micro Niche finder in action, click here.
