PPC is a form of advertising within Google search engine and other websites that subscribe to Google advertisements. Your advert will appear on the side of natural search results on Google search engine, and it will appear in relevant websites when a user search for a particular keyword.
Advertising on Google through PPC is not free, you pay whenever someone clicks on your advertisement. However, the cost of advertising is controlled by you. you can set the daily limit and the per click cost.
Say the amount you pay for per click is $0.10, and the daily limit is $30 the maximum clicks you can get in a day is 300clicks. Assuming your conversion rate is 3%, everyday you will make 9 sale. And if the commission you get per sale is $30, every day you will earn $270 from one website.
This calculation is based on the assumption that you get the maximum number of clicks each day.
To fare better at advertising on Google via PPC, you need to know a few points;
Research your Keywords
Keywords affect how Google index your advertisement. If you are using PPC consider the choice of your keywords and your other search method. You can choose to diversify your keywords of to focus and dominate a few particular keywords.
You should research your choice of keywords using Google Trends and Google Keywords to find out what are the popular keywords to use and what is the competition like for the particular keyword.
Write your PPC ad
- Headline
You must give readers a reason to click on your advertisement rather than competitors’. First of all, you need a headline that is able to capture reader’s attention. Try different combination of headlines, if you find that the click through rate is not up to your expectation.
- Offer
You should try to keep your advertisement short and sweet. Give readers the benefits they will receive if they click on your advertisement. Use action words that will make readers want to click.
Plan your PPC Strategy
Have a strategy on conducting your PPC campaign. What results you want to achieve, what is the time frame? How should you plan the cost per click to get into a better spot and what is your cost limit?
Think of what you want out get out of the PPC campaign. Is it more traffic to your website, or are you selling something and how is the PPC campaign going to blend with your other advertising methods.
Keep in mind the returns from your PPC, keep track of your cost and returns. Analyze the effectiveness of your advertisements.
Bid Within Your Budget
PPC is a paid advertising method, you need to set your limits for the advertising, and manage your costs. Keep your costs to a minimum while increasing the effectiveness of your advertisements to achieve your goal.
Step 1: Fight For The Best Spot
Your ad should appear in the first few pages of natural search results. You will probably get more serious people looking for solution when your ad appear in the2-4 position in the page if they are willing to click your ad, chances are that the traffic into your website will be more targeted.
Step 2: Use traffic statistics
Make use of your website statistics to understand your crowd. Learn how they behave so you can target your marketing efforts to suit your target audiences.
Step 3: Be ruthless
Track your conversion of your ads and change the keywords you use to find out which keyword gives you more conversion. Don’t hesitate to change the keywords if they are not effective.
Step 4: Calculate
If you are using PPC to sell products, do not spent more than 10% of your average sales amount on advertising. The ROI will be too low. Assuming the conversion rate of your website is 3%, you need to direct 34 people to your website to make a sale. If your average sale is $100, spend not more than $10 on PPC. That will equate to $0.33 per click.
Monitor Results
You must review and monitor your PPC campaign to alter and manage your website and advertisement to achieve better results. Look at the statistics and reports on your ad.
By reviewing and making the necessary alterations to your advertisement of website you can increase the conversion and hence achieve more results with less effort.
