If you have a blog or a website you are going to want to get traffic to it, by writing and submitting your articles to directories, you will get back links to your site along with traffic. All article directories are different, some will let you leave a anchor text with a do follow tag while others will not.
Besides getting the links and the traffic, you could also use an article directory to promote an affiliate product. You could write a review on it and point out all of the pros and cons of the product, increasing the chances of you making a sale.
There are a handful of article directories that are out there that have a tremendous amount of authority. Some of these are Article Dashboard, Go Articles, and Ezine Power Publisher, along with many others.
If you are submitting to a major article directory like ezine articles, you want to make sure that you are submitting original content. All submissions there are manually reviewed, and you will have to submit 10 quality articles, they will decide if you can submit more or not.
Article directories can be very valuable if you submit to them right. Just be very careful and be sure that you are submitting quality stuff to them, and you will get rewarded with not only some good keyword rich back links, but also some targeted traffic.
