Among advertising networks on the internet, Google Adwords is still the biggest player on PPC advertising. Figure out how to use Google Adwords and you can get a great deal of targeted traffic back to your site or blog. Having an understanding of Google Adwords’ system is but one part of the equation of Pay Per Click Advertising. The major part of PPC advertising is centered around the strategies employed to produce a successful campaign.
No matter what niche you’re in or what type of audience you are trying to attract, there are some specific guidelines to follow when using Google AdWords. Here are some important tips for creating a Google Adwords campaign that gets results:
1. Use the wizard to set up your AdWords account. If you’re new to Google AdWords, you’ll find it easier to get through the initial account set up process using the Adwords wizard. The wizard will walk you through all of the basic account management tools; this is the area where you can select the regions you want your ads to run, and set up your campaigns within a few clicks.
2. Produce effective ads. Each component of your ad must follow a particular formula for it to be effective: A keyword or keyphrase must be used in the headline. State a benefit by the second line. Mention special promotions or product features in the third line. Finally, the fourth line must contain a URL link back to your landing page or website. 3. Search for the right keywords. You need to have the right keywords and/or keyphrases that will attract your market to your site. Google offers a solid keyword selector tool that will allow you to dig deep and find appropriate keywords for your niche. Utilize this tool as much as possible when creating your campaign or even before building up your website or blog.
4. Learn Keyword Matching. The Google Keyword tool allows you to perform broad matches, phrase matches and exact matches for your keywords in your campaign module. What this essentially does is widen your keywords for a campaign. There is also an option to exclude certain words from your campaign by using the negative match. You may want to do this so that your ads will not run on users’ computers who typed in the excluded words.
5. Establish your budget. Google allows adwords users to limit their spending by specifying their budget. Google will automatically deduct balance from your account up to your specified daily budget. Work with a small budget initially and increase it as you gather more data about your campaign. You need to find out which keywords actually lead to a sale and the exact cost you incur for each lead. Once you have enough data, you can then confidently increase your budget.
