It’s incredibly important to know what direction you want to head in when creating your internet business income system. I’ve been building online sites for over 8 years and I still follow my own set of guidelines when I start out. Taking the time now to map out your business will save you lots of headaches in the future.
Here are the questions I use whenever I take on a new project. Write them down so you can create you own business plan!
* Choose what business model you want to focus on. Are you interested in selling your own products that you have on hand, someone else’s products as an affiliate who earns commissions on sales, selling goods on eBay, drop shipping, writing and distributing your own ebook, re-selling ebooks or software, using Google Adsense on an informational site, offer your services instead of a product, etc.
* How much money do you have to invest in creating the site? Some models are very basic and will only cost you about $30.00 dollars to start. How much time can you devote to learning everything you need to get started?
* How much can you reasonably put aside per month for your advertising and marketing budget? I typically start with $100.00 per month after I have tested my market and start earning money. The more you can outsource the more time you have for building new businesses that create more revenue for you.
* Writing your own content for your main site or blog posts can be very time consuming if you do it yourself. Are you good at writing? I suggest doing the writing yourself in the beginning so you understand how it is done.
* Are you going to accept credit cards on your site if you are selling your own products? You’ll want to check out the various companies such as PayPal, Google Checkout, 2Checkout and find out what they are charging for fees, returns, set up costs, etc. If you are selling on eBay you will need a PayPal account. I love Paypal because they are simple to use, have low fees, and are great for returns and transfers.
* Do some digging and find out what your competition is. How much are you going to charge for your services or products? Are you offering anything special that beats out your competition? You will want to have a unique selling proposition that sets you apart from all the other guys! Decide what your USP is and market that.
* Do you have additional products that your buyers would be interested in? The majority of people who have already purchased something from you and trust you will buy again from you so you’ll want to have or create something related to your original product that will help them later. Market this follow up product to your existing customer base.
* What kind of internet business income can you start that can be residual income for you that you don’t have to spend too much time on each week? Think of information sites or ebooks that you sell which are all run automatically with you doing nothing after your initial set up. If you build enough of these you will make a very decent income!
* You probably won’t have any testimonials for your site yet so here is a fantastic tip to get an endorsement. You can ask a celebrity on your field or keynote speaker to give you an interview. You record the interview either on video (this is the best way) or audio. You can then take the video and add it to your site and promote it on YouTube!
